It's quite simple. There are forces in the world masquerading as Republicans, or should we say wolves in GOP elephant costumes. We are dealing with a campaign season where "religious" conservatives are talking about running a third party candidate because our 2008 Nominee may not pass their 100%idealogical litmus test. To make matters worse, we now hear that a few of our third tier GOP POTUS candidates are on record saying they will not support the party's nominee unless it is someone who meets their ideological qualifications.

Once upon a time Ronald Reagan said that any Congressperson or Senator who voted with him 80% of the time was not his enemy, but his ally. Certain political ideologues who constantly quote Ronald Reagan have a tendency to ignore or forget this quote and would rather have 100% ideological loyalty. If you want to win an election it doesn't work that way.

The I Vote the Elephant Blogroll is dedicated to LOYAL Republicans who put their pragmatic determination to win elections in order to bring about a change to Republican Party Values ahead of their dogmatic determination to remain pure conservatives, moderated, or liberals. I believe that the proper function of government is to do for the people those things that have to be done but cannot be done, or cannot be done as well by individuals, and that the most effective government is government closest to the people.

I believe that good government is based on the individual and that each person's ability, dignity, freedom and responsibility must be honored and recognized.

I believe that free enterprise and the encouragement of individual initiative and incentive have given this nation an economic system second to none.

I believe that sound money policy should be our goal.

I believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, age, sex or national origin. I believe that persons with disabilities should be afforded equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity as well.

I believe we must retain those principles worth retaining, yet always be receptive to new ideas with an outlook broad enough to accommodate thoughtful change and varying points of view.

I believe that Americans value and should preserve their feeling of national strength and pride, and at the same time share with people everywhere a desire for peace and freedom and the extension of human rights throughout the world.

Finally, I believe that the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.

I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.

I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.

I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.

I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.

I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.

I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.

Are you as annoyed as am I over all the various and sundry sources trying to promote their own idealogy and call it "Republican"? The more outrageous they become, the more annoyed I am becoming - to the point where I'm ready to do something about it.
